Consent to Collection and Use of Personal Information

Peeple (the "Company") seeks your consent for the collection and use of personal information as follows, in accordance with Articles 15 and 22 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

1. Personal Information Collected

The Company collects the following personal information to provide services:

  • Upon registration: Name, date of birth, gender, mobile phone number, email address
  • Social login: Social account information (Kakao, Google, Apple)
  • Profile setup: Profile photo, self-introduction, interest hashtags
  • Automatically collected during service use: IP address, cookies, access logs, device information, location information

[Optional Items]

  • Event participation: Additional contact information, special notes
  • Payment information: Payment method information, transaction history

2. Purpose of Collection and Use

Collected personal information is used for the following purposes:

① Member Management

  • Member identification, registration confirmation, identity verification
  • Prevention of fraudulent use and unauthorized access
  • Prohibition of collecting personal information of children under 15

② Service Provision

  • Providing event creation and participation services
  • Providing community post creation and comment features
  • Providing chat services between members
  • Providing article browsing and bookmark services
  • Personalized content recommendations

③ Service Improvement and Development

  • New service development and customized service provision
  • Service provision and advertising based on statistical characteristics
  • Service effectiveness verification and access frequency analysis

④ Marketing and Advertising

  • Providing event and promotion information
  • Sending advertising information (with separate consent)

3. Retention and Use Period

① Until membership withdrawal: Member information is retained until membership withdrawal and deleted immediately upon withdrawal.

② Legal retention: When retention is required by law for a certain period, information is retained for that period:

  • Records on contracts or withdrawal: 5 years (E-Commerce Act)
  • Records on payment and supply of goods: 5 years (E-Commerce Act)
  • Records on consumer complaints or dispute resolution: 3 years (E-Commerce Act)
  • Access log records: 3 months (Protection of Communications Secrets Act)

4. Provision and Consignment of Personal Information

The Company does not provide users' personal information to third parties in principle. Exceptions include:

  • When users have given prior consent
  • When required by law or requested by investigative agencies according to procedures and methods defined by law

Personal information processing tasks are consigned as follows for service provision:

  • Cloud services: Supabase, Firebase
  • Payment processing: PG companies (when used)

5. Personal Information Destruction Procedures and Methods

① Destruction procedure: Users' personal information is moved to a separate DB after purpose achievement and stored for a certain period according to internal policies and relevant laws before destruction.

② Destruction method

  • Electronic files: Complete deletion using technical methods that make recovery and reproduction impossible
  • Paper documents: Shredding or incineration

6. User Rights

Users may exercise the following rights:

  1. Request to view personal information
  2. Request to correct personal information
  3. Request to delete personal information
  4. Request to stop personal information processing

These rights can be exercised through the in-app settings menu or customer center.

The following Personal Information Protection Officer is designated to oversee personal information processing and handle user complaints and remedy damages related to personal information processing:

8. Right to Refuse Consent and Disadvantages

You have the right to refuse consent to the collection and use of personal information. However, if you refuse consent to required items, membership registration and service use may be restricted.
